Mega-Moon
You’ve all heard of a honeymoon but have you come across mega-mooning? This new trend sees married couples marking milestone anniversaries with trips of a lifetime, maybe even topping your original post-wedding getaway. Likelihood is, years later down the line, couples are less strapped for cash, meaning splashing out on a bucket list holiday is feasible. Celebrate a mega-moon on your 5th, 10th, 20th wedding anniversary or whenever you please and rekindle your love!
The Rental Revolution
If you’ve got big summer events pencilled in the diary, it’s time to start outfit planning and rental platforms are the way to make sure you always look the part without having to splurge on a new get-up, which you may only wear a few times! We’re no strangers to rentals as they’ve been a thing for a few years but this year the industry has levelled up, making it easier than ever to rent incredible pieces, it’s kind to the planet and your wallet! Rixo’s new store on the King’s Road has launched a rental service, so you can even try on your outfit before renting. Other notable mentions are; ByRotation and HURR!
Air Fryer’s are worth the hype
I hopped on board the air fryer craze and I have to admit, it’s completely changed the way I cook. I can’t remember the last time I used the oven! Not only does the air fryer save time and money but a lot of food tastes so much better from the air fryer. I haven’t just got any old air fryer, the Ninja Speedi 10-in-1 Rapid Cooker & Air Fryer is a revolutionary kitchen appliance that does just about anything you can imagine; bake, steam, grill, air fry, roast, dehydrate, sauté, slow cook…it does it all! Tiktok and Instagram are inundated with healthy recipe ideas that take minimal time, and what’s great about the Ninja Speedi is that you can use multiple functions at once and programme it to finish at the same time, it’s a total gamechanger for speedy midweek meals.
Sunday Scaries
Anyone else suffer from heightened anxiety on a Sunday evening? Whether your to-do list is playing on your mind, you’re dreading the week ahead or you had one too many wines over the weekend, the Sunday Scaries are a real thing! My advice to fight the fear? Get organised for the week, whether that’s a food shop, meal prep or laundry, try to keep your day of rest on the productive side. Plan to do something on a Sunday afternoon, if you often opt to spend Sundays at one with the sofa, plan to meet a friend, go to the cinema, book a restorative yoga class or do anything you might fancy to keep leisurely busy and stop your mind running wild. Finally, breathe, focus on your breath, try a guided meditation (Headspace is brilliant) and remind yourself that a new week sparks new opportunities!
Time to up the iodine
Sticking on the milk theme, if you are solely a plant-milk drinker, you should be considering upping your iodine! Cow’s milk is a source of iodine that if you’re missing out on, could leave you in a deficiency. The mineral is particularly important for women to support hormonal and thyroid health. Seaweed is a great source of iodine but you’re unlikely to consume much in your diet, so a capsule supplement is worth taking, VOYA’s Orplex™ Supplement is a great option!
The celebrity onslaught into the beauty market
Celebs are flooding the beauty market with a new A-lister’s launching brands every 5 minutes it feels like. Don’t get me wrong, some of the brands to emerge are incredible (Rose Inc. and Rhode being two of my favourites) but doesn’t this fast-tracked entry into the beauty world seem a little unconventional? Should the popstars, actors and actresses and TV stars turned beauty entrepreneurs of this world be ‘staying in their lane’ and let the run-in-the-mill beauty pioneers own this space solely? It’s an up-for-debate and I’m yet to have a verdict, but consider the small beauty businesses that are trying to rise to the top without the deep pockets and backing of titans!
Shroom Spiked Skincare
Mushrooms are one of the latest trends to sweep the wellness industry, with tinctures, powders and capsules trickling their way into our supplement routine, but have you come across skincare formulated with mushrooms? With copious benefits for the skin, from anti-inflammatory to antioxidant, antimicrobial and tone-unifying activity, the healing properties are incredible. Hifas da Terra’s Mico-Repair contains organic extracts of Reishi, Cordyceps and cannabidiol oil for a supercharged formula!
Dermatologists advice at a fraction of the price
An appointment with a dermatologist has a hefty price tag attached to it, which is why Skin + Me have completely revolutionised the industry. Accessible to all, Skin + Me is the platform that gives you bespoke dermatologist-recommended products, bypassing the substantial fees and time visiting a clinic. Take a questionnaire and snap a few pictures of your skin to let the Skin + Me dermatologists analyse and recommend your ‘daily dose’ which is delivered to your door on a monthly rolling subscription. Giving you access to prescription-strength ingredients, such as Tretinoin, Skin + Me has truly transformed my skin, banishing my acne like nothing else I’ve tried before!
Awe Walks
I guess you can liken ‘awe walks’ to forest bathing, just on the move! Getting outside in nature is a sure way to calm the mind and ground the body. Awe Walks takes your usual plod around the park to the next level, the key is to be present, no music, no chatting, no phone calls. Simply look around, take in the surroundings and appreciate the wild beauty that mother nature has to offer. Return feeling refreshed by the awe-inspiring endeavours you encountered, trust me, it’s free therapy!
Be aware of plant-milk nasties
Having stalked every plant milk on the market, it remains clear that many deemed healthier, or more sustainable unfortunately contain added ingredients that are neither of these things. If you go through oat milk at an alarming rapid rate (like I do) it may be time to consider the brand you opt for. Plenish has become my go-to, the ingredients list is short…oats, water, sea salt. No secret ingredients to prolong the life or alter the texture and most importantly it tastes great! Disclosure- if you use an at-home milk frother, this will not foam, but for tea, smoothies, porridge, cooking and just about anything else, it’s fantastic!
What are your sports bras made from?
An alarming number of sportswear fabrics, specially those found in sports bras, have been found to contain the BPA chemical in them. Linked with disrupting hormone levels, BPA can have an effect on the female reproductive system. It’s not entirely clear how harmful dermal absorption of BPA is, but it may be worth considering the materials used in your current sports bra collection. It’s especially important to review this during pregnancy and puberty.
Cystitis is a pain in the bladder
Us women are all too familiar with UTI’s, with the majority of women suffering from a bladder infection at least once in their life. There are a multitude of ways bacteria can uninvitedly enter the bladder which causes a UTI, one of the most common being cystitis. Resulting in stinging, the constant need to pee and burning sensations, UTI’s are quite frankly highly annoying and painful. UTI’s tend to heighten in the summer months, with dehydration being one of the causes. To avoid contracting cystitis Bio-Kult’s Pro-Cyan capsules target your urinary tract, formulated with gut-friendly live bacterial strains.
